MLS (Miniature League Soccer)
General Information:
FC Bartlesville's Academy program for the U5/U6 age group is very excited to introduce the new MLS format. Players will wear replica MLS kits. Nothing excites us more than the pure love these players have for The Beautiful Game. Now these players can wear the same jerseys as their favorite MLS all stars.
Our U5/U6 academy program plays small sided games (3v3) with Pugg goals. If the ball goes out of bounds on a sideline a coach on the field will immediately put a new ball into play. This cuts down on the time of kids chasing after the ball, and coaches trying to teach correct technique for throw-ins, which both greatly effect how much time the kids are getting to actually play soccer. Any ball that goes out of bounds on the end line (the line that the goals are placed on), will automatically be a goal kick for the defending team, no matter who kicked it out. On a goal kick, the ball should be placed a foot to two feet in front of one side of the goal, not on the actual end line. The idea is to spend as much time as possible actually playing. Any time the kids are standing and waiting is time they could be actually running and enjoying The Beautiful Game.
