As stated in the Coaches
Information sheet provided to every coach at the beginning of each
season: Do not use the Robinwood game fields for
practice!
WCSC has a limited number of
practice fields located at Adams Lake and Silver Lake.
Unfortunately, we have significantly
more teams than available practice fields and we simply can’t provide every team
a place to practice.
To determine whether a practice
field at Adams Lake West or Silver Lake is available, you must contact the WCSC
Field and Game Scheduler (Doug Lynch at
wcscassignor@swbell.net). Practice fields are generally assigned on a
first-come first-served basis with preference given to those coaches/teams
willing to help mow and maintain the fields during the summer.
Note below that the Adams Lake
Center and Adams Lake East fields have been designated for WCSC Academy Team
practice.
ACADEMY TEAM PRACTICE AREAS:
U5-U6 Teams ALC (Adams Lake Center Field):
In the fall of 2010,
all U5 teams will practice at ALC on Mondays OR on Thursdays from 6 until
7 PM. (U5 and U6 teams may practice only once per week. At registration time,
U5 parents will be offered the option of practicing on EITHER Mondays OR on
Thursdays. Teams will then be created based on the players electing to practice
on that given night.)
In the fall of 2010,
all U6 teams will practice at ALC on Tuesdays OR Fridays from 6 until 7
PM.
U7-U8 Teams ALE (Adams Lake East):
In the fall of 2010,
ALE which currently contains 1-U10 and 4-U8 fields will be identified as the
dedicated practice area for all WCSC U7 and U8 teams. (The U10 goals currently
at ALE will be removed.)
In the fall of 2010,
all U7 Girls teams will practice on the West end of ALE on Mondays and
Thursdays from 6 until 7 PM. All U7 Boys teams will practice on the East
end of ALE on Mondays and Thursdays from 6 until 7 PM.
In the fall of 2010,
all U8 Girls teams will practice at the West end of ALE on Tuesdays and
Fridays from 6 until 7 PM. All U8 Boys teams will practice at the East
end of ALE on Tuesdays and Fridays from 6 until 7 PM.
Many have asked, “When will U9 Boys
and Girls and U10 Girls teams practice as Academies?” WCSC is looking for a
location containing sufficient space where U9/U10 Academy teams can practice.
On several occasions, WCSC has asked
Brooke Cox, Bartlesville Parks Department and Lisa Beeman, Bartlesville City
Planner, for permission to develop the area North of Lowes and West of the Adams
Lake field (at WCSC’s expense). WCSC’s requests were denied and this denial
has been difficult for WCSC to understand.
The Bartlesville economy benefits
from dollars spent in Bartlesville by soccer teams travelling to Bartlesville to
play. With the help of the Bartlesville Chamber of Commerce this influx was
estimated to be $238,757 for the Fall 2009 season, or an estimated $477,514 annually.
WCSC is pursuing other options which
may unfortunately result in construction of U9/U10 practice and game fields in
either Dewey or Ochelata. |
