Heartland Invitational Champions

Nov 05, 2014

Congratulations to the FCB 99 girls soccer team this weekend as they took the championship in the 2014 Heartland Invitational Tournament. The girls controlled their group stage with 3 wins out of 3, and a 14-2 goal ratio. The girls met a solid Kansas team in the finals. An early goal from Paige Drummond put the team ahead from a cross by Danielle Lorson. The opposition equalized with a penalty ten minutes till the end. The game looked to be heading to overtime, when a pin point cross from Bailey Stringer, set up Kelsie Eason for a superb header in the upper right corner. The girls won the final 2-1.

Coach David Critchley said the following, "The girls were fantastic this weekend, it was the best soccer performance I have seen them play as head coach. They moved the ball with speed and a purpose all weekend".
