Playing Career:

Coach Godwin started playing soccer at a young age when he lived in England from 68-72. As a child living in London he was marinated in the footballing culture which developed in to love for the game. England had just won The World Cup in ‘66 and George Best, Charlie George and Gordan Banks were the players he loved to watch and emulate. “As an American kid I worked hard to disguise my accent to blend in with the locals. I`m sure I didn`t fool anyone except maybe me. Today people still say ask, you talk funny, where you from?" Coach Godwin continued to play soccer once back in the states, specifically the position of Goal Keeper. He continued to play through his high school years which led him to the State Finals in 1978. After high school he went on to play Semi Professionally in the Prof Premier League, then in the Master Division where his team won the State Cup 3 years in a row from 1990-1993. In 1992-93 Coach Godwin was invited to represent Oklahoma in the National Amateur Cup.
